Thanks to all our friends and family who helped us during our whirlwind tour across the United States to gather up everything we needed to know in just a few short months of 2024. Also thanks to our friends in each town who gave us loads of advice on things to do and places to see.
Chicago was a fun opening trip thanks to Sandy and Luke giving us background on the Windy City, and thanks to Joel in Kansas City for giving us the lay of the land there. Thanks to Nelson for helping us get our bearings in Houston, Jason and family for letting us stay in Washington D.C., thanks to Phil and Ted for their expertise on Orlando, and our trip to Raleigh wouldn’t have been the same without Steve and Heather leading us around. John, as always, came in clutch when we asked for Seattle history and favorite ways to spend a weekend there. Pete in Salt Lake City was a tremendous resource for deciphering all the weird ins and outs of that area.
A very special thanks to Michelle and Belinda and friends in Louisville for making the idea of this whole project possible, encouraging us throughout, and always welcoming us and hosting our annual visits. You all are the best and we couldn’t have completed this without any of you.
A massive thanks is also due to my editor Nadia. No matter how much time I spent editing my own work over weeks, she always found dozens of tweaks that made the text much, much better.
Lastly, a huge thanks to Mike for helping with design and layout and all his decades of print experience that helped make the print version of the book and all the future ones look as good as it can.
